New Years Resolution: Weight Loss Tips



Welcome to 2011.  How many of you worried about gaining too much weight during the season?  Did you feel like even looking at food piled on the pounds?  The parties for work and the kid's school.  Then the neighbors bring over goodies and you have to eat them to be polite. Eat, eat, eat....calories, calories, calories!

1. Do you eat high glycemic foods?

2. How often do you eat out?

3. How much soda/alcohol do you consume a day?

Your answers may surprise you.  These are the types of foods that contain hidden calories.  You may want to consider a few changes to keep your weight in check.  Ready to make a few changes now?  Follow these easy and productive weight loss tips for a fantastic, energy filled year.
  • Be choosy about where and how you eat.  Know the restaurants menu - especially the hidden ingredients - sodium, MSG, fats, etc.  Try a plate with just the entree and some vegetable.  Try leaving out the heavy starchy foods unless you are going to run a marathon.
  • Search for low glycemic foods and pick more from that list to serve. Foods with higher glyccmic index food causes a rapid rise in blood glucose levels.  These may lead to issues associated with diabetes.
  • Try to water with lemon/lime or a mild unsweetened juice instead of soda.  Use a glass of non-alcoholic juice in place of an alcoholic beverage.  Better on your budget and your health.
