Families with Children Who Have Diabetes - Now What?

In a recent post, I announced the Educational Outreach Campaign for families with Diabetic children.  The outpouring support was amazing.  At the same time it was alarming to learn how many famillies are impacted by Diabetes and so many people wondering what that means.  The next several posts be dedicated to answering many of those questions to help more of us learn about those who live with Diabetes.

The Juvenline Diabetes Research Foundation cautions that it takes time to adapt ot the day-to-day demands of the disease.  As treatment options continue to improve, your child is able to live a full and active life. There is a great deal of information to process and as each family member gains more knowledge and confidence in living with Diabetes, they will be more able to move away from the intense feelings common after diagnosis.

In my practice with Metabolic Health, the most successful weight loss patients are those with a support system that provides encouragement, empowering acceptance.  Frequently, the whole support system takes on the new lifestyle.   The same is true to a child with Diabetes - the stronger the support system, the more "normal" the child's life feels.

Do you know a family who has been impacted with Diabetes?  Have you wondered how you can help?
Here's how:

1. Support our Works of Mercy Campaign to provide education and nutrition to families with Diabetic children.

2. Recognize they want to be as normal as possible and recommend them to receive educational support.
